Marius Prinsloo was given the very unique nickname of Mais by his brothers as a young boy.
Marius started painting in 1998 after moving from Gauteng (Pretoria) to the picturesque Bredasdorp in the Overberg. The beautiful landscapes and seascapes in the area fascinated him and he wanted to lay the imagery onto canvas. At that time he met a friend who had been a part-time artist and he inspired him to start painting. Initially he painted on pebble stones and ostrich eggs which he sold to a curio shop in the V&A Waterfront.
A professional artist advised Marius to rather paint on canvas because it would then have "artistic value". This is where his journey into the world of art began . . .
He has recently started his 8th year as a professional artist and he is loving every moment of this wonderful career. You are welcome to look at his 2009 Schedule page and meet him personally at an exhibition near you.
Marius' "trade mark" in all his paintings is the 3 birds in the sky symbolizing the ever presence of the Trinity in our lives.
